Zhuhai’s tallest building is capped in Hengqin

The main structure of Hengqin International Financial Center (IFC) achieved full capping last Wednesday 23 May. The 333-meter project is to be Zhuhai’s tallest building – three meters higher than the 330-meter Zhuhai Tower once completed.

Hengqin IFC is located on the offshore financial island in Hengqin within Zhuhai’s Shizimen Central Business District, boasting panoramic mountain views. It faces the landscape axis of Hengqin CBD to the south, Macau Peninsula to the north and the residential buildings and integrated resorts of Taipa and Cotai to the east. It sits opposite to the booming Zhuhai Eastern New Area to the west.

The Hengqin IFC has a building area of around 200,000 square meters, with four basement floors and 69 floors above ground. When open it will be comprised of offices and apartments, with retail plus conference and exhibition components on the podium.

Designed by Aedas, one of the world’s largest architectural firms, the building takes the form of a flood dragon bursting from the sea, inspired by the famous “Nine Dragons” dating from the Southern Song Dynasty.

From the exterior, the building looks like four towers converging into one, symbolizing the convergence of talent from Zhuhai, Macau, Hong Kong and Shenzhen (Guangdong) in Hengqin.

The façade will feature glass and metal panels, with the entrance canopy forming a large dynamic curtain connecting with the folding roof of the exhibition hall.

Construction of Hengqin IFC began in November 2015 and is expected to be fully complete in January 2019.
