The Hengqin Smart Shuttle Bus, which primarily services people working in Hengqin, has officially launched with an opening ceremony held at Hengqin Creative Valley.
The upgraded Hengqin Smart Shuttle Bus currently operates three lines, namely No 8, No 10 and No 11, with stops starting in the Doumen district, Jingding district and Haina City respectively.
A total of 45 sites are covered, with the three routes having been officially approved by the Zhuhai Communications Bureau.
All commuter shuttle buses are fully electric vehicles, equipped with smart vehicle software supplied by Zhuhai Lcola Technology Co Ltd and operated by Zhuhai Xinhe Traffic Development Stock Company Limited, which is part of Zhuhai Public Transport Group Company Limited.
The upgraded smart commuter system includes GPS, WiFi and automatic detection of bus stops in order to calculate charges by distance travelled. It also includes “smart customer service”, where passengers can use their mobile phone to schedule buying a ticket, check bus arrival times, show the bus’ moving location on a map and even remind passengers of their next stop.
The shuttle bus is tentatively priced at RMB10 per trip. Those who ride in the first month will enjoy a 10% discount.
The ticket price will be adjusted next month and subsection charging will be gradually introduced, where passengers will be charged according to the distance travelled.
