On 20 September, the 2018 Tour of China Zhuhai Hengqin stage began at Hengqin Tennis Center Zhuhai. A total of 22 teams from 15 countries and regions took part.
The Tour of China, sponsored by Union Cycliste Internationale and authorized by State General Sports Administration (China) and State General Sports Cycling and Fencing Administration, is an advanced international cycling event in China. It is the only cross regional and international event named for China and follows the Tour de France, Vuelta a España and Giro d’Italia as the world’s fourth longest road cycling race.
The Zhuhai Stage, hosted by Huafa Sports, was held in Hengqin with riders completing eight laps of the 11.5-kilometer course for a total distance of 92 kilometers.
Seid Lizde of Italy’s Androni team won the stage in one hour, 53 minutes and 51 seconds. Michael Freiberg of Australia’s BSC Intercontinental Team and Jacopo Mosca of Wilier Triestina–Selle Italia ranked second and third.
