HZMB open for public transit

On 23 October, Chinese President Xi Jinping announced the opening of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge at an opening ceremony in Zhuhai.

Leading officials from Guangdong and the Hong Kong and Macau SARs attended the 09:00 ceremony, which took place at the passenger clearance building of the Zhuhai Port.

The bridge is the result of five years of feasibility research and another nine years of construction. The mega cross-boundary complex officially opened to traffic on Wednesday.

Exit-entry driving lanes and the Car Appliance Crew Inspection Hall are now open 24 hours a day, however only passengers in vehicles with fewer than nine seats may go through clearance formalities from 08:00 to 22:00 at the Passenger Clearance Hall. The hall is open for all other vehicles between 22:00 and 08:00.

Exit-entry driving lanes in the Macau section of the bridge are open only to passengers with Macau or Hong Kong permanent identity cards, or an Exit-Entry Permit for Traveling to and from Hong Kong and Macau. Those with foreign passports are not authorized to use the driving lane.
