The third Macao International Economic and Trade Cooperation Summit and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Development Forum was held on 6 June in Macau.

Focusing on the core economic groups of the Greater Bay Area, the summit aims to promote the industrial value chain through commercial display and cooperation negotiation models, providing a platform for integration and innovation between mainland China, Macau and global economies.

It was attended by Zou Ye, Deputy Director of the Management Committee of Hengqin New Area, as well as a number of Hengqin-based companies.

According to the organizer, the summit – which was first held in 2016 – has actively paved the way for cities in mainland China to promote their urban brands, attract overseas investment and explore overseas opportunities using Macau as a platform for trade cooperation with Portuguese-speaking and Latin American countries.

The summit invited Zhuhai Hengqin New Area, Zhuhai Wanshan District and the Qingyang District of Chengdu City in Sichuan Province to exchange ideas for promoting cooperation between government and enterprise so as to achieve mutual benefit.

In one of the summit’s highlights, Yuan Lie, director of Sino-LAC United Investment Co Ltd – a Brazilian company with a branch in Hengqin – gave an insightful presentation. His company has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Hengqin China-Latin America Economic and Trade Cooperation Park and, with its years of deep development in Brazil and other countries in Latin America, aims to become the docking platform for multi-disciplinary projects such as bilateral real estate investment, trade cooperation and cross-border e-commerce.

SINO-LAC United Investment Co has signed a cooperation agreement with Qingyang District of Chengdu that will see the two parties utilize their resources and professional advantages to carry out in-depth cooperation in such fields as foreign trade, innovative finance, cross-border logistics, e-commerce and cultural creativity.
