Macau Chief Executive Chui Sai On began a series of visits to the major cities of the Greater Bay Area last week with a stopover in Hengqin.
Chui and his delegation visited INNO Valley HQ – also known as Macau-Hengqin Youth Entrepreneurship Valley – before attending a seminar where he met with representatives of Macau companies stationed in Hengqin.
The seminar was chaired by Niu Jing, Secretary of the CPC Hengqin New Area Committee and Director of the Hengqin New Area Management Committee, who stated that he has always considered enhanced cooperation between the two cities as his primary responsibility. He added that he has looked to promote the economic development of Macau.
At present, there are 1,586 Macau enterprises and 145 entrepreneurial teams from Macau stationed in Hengqin, making it the area with the highest level of investment by Macau-funded enterprises and the most concentrated area for Macau’s young entrepreneurial teams.
Chui said his focus is the development of Macau enterprises in Hengqin and that he looks forward to the governments of the two territories jointly studying which policies and measures can best provide these companies with support.
In addition, he said he hopes to exchange ideas and research with Hengqin on matters such as company-related customs clearance models.
Chui’s delegation also visited the Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Industrial Park of Co-operation between Guangdong and Macao to learn more about exchanges and the trading of techniques regarding traditional Chinese medicine products.
In November 2011, the Macau SAR established Macau Investment and Development Ltd, which alongside Zhuhai Da Heng Qin Investment Ltd invested and established the Traditional Chinese Medicine Technology Industrial Park Development Co Ltd to take responsibility for the construction, operation and management of the park.
While in Hengqin, Chui met with the Secretary of the CPC Zhuhai Municipal Committee, Guo Yonghang, and stressed the importance of Macau’s ongoing cooperation with Zhuhai.
Hengqin International Tennis Center will be open for use by residents of Zhuhai, Hong Kong and Macau free of charge from 11 August to 31 December, Huafa Sports has revealed.
The Zijin Hengqin Lecture Series was held on 4 August at Xiangzhou Port in Hengqin, bringing a traditional Chinese cultural feast with the characteristics of the Forbidden City to attendees from Hengqin and neighbor cities.
Hengqin International Tennis Center hosted a special ceremony on 21 July to mark the 100-day countdown to the start of the 2018 WTA Elite Trophy tournament.
The 2nd 21st Century Maritime Silk Road China (Guangdong) International Communication Forum dealt with a range of strategic issues including Guangdong Province’s brand image building and dissemination, scientific and technological innovation and construction of the Greater Bay Area.
The forum was coordinated by the GMTCM Park – the first project jointly developed in Hengqin by the governments of Macau and Zhuhai.
Zhuhai issued its first five-year mainland residence permit on 9 September 2018 to a Macau citizen living in the city. According to government information, 751 more eligible individuals from Macau, Hong Kong and Taiwan have now received permits.
From 19 to 21 September, the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road Forum on International Communication, China (Guangdong) will be held at Zhuhai International Convention & Exhibition Centre in Hengqin New Area. It is the second edition of the annual event.
