Hengqin-Dong’ao high-speed ferry in service

The new Hengqin-Dong’ao ferry service held its launch ceremony on 28 March.

The project was announced last November by Zhuhai Gree Group and the Administrative Committee of Hengqin New Area, aiming to attract more Chimelong tourists to the island by providing a package tour.

Hengqin Ferry Terminal is only one kilometer from the Chimelong International Ocean Tourist Resort. The new route takes about 35 minutes for the nine-nautical mile trip, half the time of ferries from the Xiangzhou Port of Zhuhai.

The 120-seat liner between two of Zhuhai’s major tourist attractions is operated by Guangdong Jianghua Shipping. The liner casts off at 10:30 daily from Hengqin Ferry Terminal, arriving at Dong’ao Island’s Nansha Bay Wharf at 11:05 before returning at 16:00. The round trip fare is RMB140 per person for adults and RMB70 for children.

Located in the middle of the Wanshan Islands in Zhuhai, Dong’ao Island is a National 4A-Grade Scenic Spot. It has a complete natural ecological environment with a forest coverage rate of 80%. Nansha Bay is known as one of the best beaches in Zhuhai for its fine white sands. You can surf, dive or sail on the island as well as enjoying high quality seafood such as urchins, pollicipes pollicipes and grouper. Gree Dong’ao Hotel, which has redefined high-end island accommodation services, adds to the luxury of the island.

Tickets are available on Guangdong Jianghua Shipping and Gree Dong’ao Hotel’s WeChat account. More purchase channels will open soon including via the website of China’s travel agency Ctrip.
